You acknowledge and accept that Bear Basics Canine Academy may use such photographs and/or videos, with or without your name, for any lawful purpose, including publicity and advertising. Please note that we will not use photos and/or videos of children without explicit consent from their parent(s) or guardian(s).
1:1 Dog Training Packages
Safety
-
All safety protocols must be strictly adhered to during sessions. Failure to comply may result in the immediate termination of the session.
-
We strongly advise clients to consult a veterinarian if their dog is exhibiting behavioural problems to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
-
Please be honest with us if your dog has a bite history or poses a bite risk—this is crucial for everyone's safety, and there is no judgment. We highly recommend muzzle training for all dogs.
-
Dogs must be kept under control at all times unless directed otherwise by a trainer. You are solely responsible for your dog’s actions and the consequences of their behaviour. Bear Basics Canine Academy will not be held liable for any loss, injury, or damage to persons, dogs, or property during the provision of our services.
-
We cannot be held responsible for any misinterpretation of advice, nor do we guarantee specific results, as the success of training can be influenced by various external factors, including owner commitment, dog breed, and temperament. Our advice is based on our knowledge, ongoing education, and the most recent scientific understanding, as well as the information provided by the handler. All training services are tailored to the specific dog seen by us and are not guaranteed to be effective for any other dog.
Group Class & Social Walks
Demeanour of Dog
-
You must not book your dog into a Group Class or Social Walk if your dog is known to be aggressive. Reactive dogs are welcome in our Group Classes and Social Walks.
-
Dogs that are people-reactive or deemed a bite risk are required to wear a muzzle.
-
To book a Social Walk, you must first book a 15-minute discovery call with us. Spaces for over-reactive dogs are limited per walk and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
We reserve the right to exclude dogs that are not suitable for Group Classes or Walks. If you fail to disclose any issues and we need to ask you to remove your dog from the session, you will not be eligible for a refund. If your dog was previously assessed and deemed suitable but later found unsuitable, we will offer an alternative arrangement, such as 1:1 training, up to the value of the booked service.

Safety
-
All dogs must be kept under control and on a lead at all times, unless directed otherwise by a trainer. You are fully responsible for your dog’s behaviour and any resulting consequences. Bear Basics Canine Academy will not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage to persons, dogs, or property during the provision of our services.
-
We also do not take responsibility for misinterpretation of advice or guarantee specific results, as various external factors, including individual circumstances, may influence the success of training.
-
Owners are advised to maintain pet insurance that includes at least third-party liability coverage. Bear Basics Canine Academy holds public liability and business insurance for the services we provide.
-
All dogs must wear a collar with an ID tag and be microchipped with up-to-date details.
-
We accept American XL Bullies in our Classes and Walks, provided they have an Exemption Certificate and comply with all relevant Government guidelines.

Dog Health & Vaccinations
-
Your dog must be fit, healthy, free of fleas and parasites, and up-to-date with all relevant vaccinations or have proof of immunity through titre testing. You are responsible for cleaning up after your dog.
-
Do not bring your dog to class if it is unwell, in season, or has a contagious illness (e.g., kennel cough or gastroenteritis). Please consult your veterinarian for the best advice.
-
If your dog is unable to attend, we encourage you to still participate in the session to continue your learning.

Children
-
Children are welcome to attend Group Classes, provided they are accompanied and supervised by an adult over the age of 18 if under 16 years old. Children must behave appropriately around unfamiliar dogs and should not distract or disrupt other dogs during sessions. We do not recommend their participation in Social Walks due to the risk of off-lead dogs potentially knocking them over.
-
If children are disruptive or if their presence is causing distress to the dogs, we may request that they leave the class. Children should remain within the designated area and are not permitted to roam or run around before, during, or after the class.
-
You are responsible for the conduct and safety of your children, and we accept no responsibility for any accidents or injuries that may occur.

Waiver of liability

Bear Basics Canine Academy are hereafter referred to as BBCA.

I hereby accept all risks associated with my participation in all BBCA training sessions, including, but not limited to: the risks of any injuries to myself, my dog and any of my family members or third parties who may attend; the risks that my dog may cause injury to other persons and/or dogs involved; and the risks that saliva, dog faeces, water, food, training equipment and/or other debris and natural hazards may be present in the training area. I am voluntarily participating in these activities with knowledge of these potential dangers. I acknowledge that dogs can be inherently difficult to control and that not all dogs may be under control at all times resulting in the possibility of injury to myself, my dog, my family members, or third parties.
I accept personal responsibility for any and all actions my dog makes and will not hold BBCA or the associated instructors responsible. I am responsible for my own dog(s) at all times and have read BBCA's terms and conditions and agree to them fully.

I certify that I have been informed and understand that there is always some unavoidable risk of injury involved when working with dogs, especially dogs with behavioural issues. Additionally, I have had full opportunity to discuss all concerns I have about the foregoing risks with BBCA and its authorised representatives. I have also made all inquiries and investigations to my satisfaction related to such risks, including, but not limited to, an examination of the training area (where applicable).

I acknowledge that BBCA has not represented, promised, guaranteed or warranted that my dog will never bite, that my dog will not be dangerous in the future, that my dog will not exhibit other behavioural problems, or that the results of the training will last for any particular amount of time.
At BBCA's sole election, BBCA's duties shall terminate if (a) in BBCA's sole judgment my dog is dangerous to BBCA trainers or any other person or animal, or interferes with the training of other dogs, or (b) I breach any term or condition of this Agreement. Upon termination in accordance with the foregoing, BBCA's duties shall terminate but all other provisions of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect. BBCA reserve the right to ask handlers to leave classes if their dog is disruptive.

If my dog causes property damage, or bites or injures any dog, animal or person (including but not limited to BBCA trainers and BBCA's agents), during or after the term of this Agreement, then I agree to pay all resulting losses and damages suffered or incurred, and to defend and indemnify BBCA and BBCA's agents from any resulting claims, demands, lawsuits, losses, costs or expenses, including attorney fees. If my dog is injured in a fight or in any other manner during or after the term of the Agreement, I assume the risk and agree that BBCA should not be held responsible for any resulting injuries, losses, damages, costs or expenses.

I will hold BBCA, its owner(s), employee(s), or agent(s) free and harmless from any and all claims, liability, damage, loss, or expenses arising out of any injury to any person or to any person’s property by my dog, while in my care, custody and control.

This Waiver of Liability is legally binding. Should I wish to make a claim to the contrary to what I have agreed to, I shall be liable for all expenses (including solicitor’s fees, court costs and consultant fees) incurred by both myself and BBCA.
